Award-winning premium Soft Drinks, Sodas, Tonics & Mixers brand leads flavour discovery with two new mixers designed to enhance rums, whiskies, tequila and more

Franklin & Sons has unveiled two new mixers, inspired by the growth in dark spirits. Joining the award-winning range is a Pineapple Mixer with Almond, and Mandarin Mixer with Ginger. Leading flavour innovation in the category, Franklin & Sons has developed two perfect mixers that pair with spirits beyond gin. Creating limitless combinations to experiment with rum, whisky, tequila, bourbons and vermouth.

The launch of the Flavour Collection saw Franklin & Sons rise to become leaders, working with top bartenders to create industry leading dual flavours, and crafting the perfect pairings to a wide range of quality gins. Now looking towards future trends, the dark spirits category is rapidly evolving, with rum +7% YoY and set to drive strong category growth in 2020.[1]

Inspired by this, and in line with the non-quinine Mixer Collection, Franklin & Sons is launching a Pineapple Mixer with Almond, and a Mandarin Mixer with Ginger. The dual flavours reflect the Flavour Collection, with the same ambition to add depth and complexity to drinks, whilst remaining delicate enough to not mask the botanicals or profiles of spirits. Carbonated to the highest effervescence and with less than 5g of sugar per 100ml, they lift even the subtlest flavours.

Almost half (49%)[2] of rum drinkers are pairing the spirit with a mixer, with four in five of these (82%)[3] choosing cola. Designed to push the boundaries of traditional ginger ales and colas, the new mixers go beyond conventional recipes. Using ingredients in innovative ways, they deliver exceptional flavour discovery opportunities for bartenders and consumers all over the world.

The flavour profiles are inspired by popular rum and whisk(e)y cocktails and the traditional ingredients grown in tropical destinations. Pineapple – a flavour commonly favoured by rum producers and distillers and complements the warmth of the spirit. Almond originates from tiki drinks, such as the Mai Tai, complementing the vanilla notes in rum and bringing a smoky finish to add depth.

The Mandarin Mixer with Ginger is a twist on the classic Ginger Ale. Mandarin brings aromatic sweetness. A mixer inspired by oranges present in whisky serves such as the Old Fashioned and Blood & Sand. The subtle spice of ginger balances the mandarin, bringing warmth and elevating flavours in spirits.

To coincide with the launch, Franklin & Sons have newly ranged the portfolio into the Tonic, Flavour and Mixer Collection, to appeal to a wide variety of consumers and occasions. Also welcomed by a fresh look and feel across the whole mixer range. The updates will see a refresh to the colour of the labels, complimented by copper foiling and copper crowns, reflecting the premium essence of the brand.
