Heritage - Franklin & Sons

Franklin & Sons products were first introduced in 1886, sold from their small family confectioners shop at 171 High Street, Rickmansworth, London. The three Franklin brothers then began to introduce innovative flavours to the UK, selling their handcrafted range of soft drinks to great acclaim.

Franklin & Brothers was established in April 1886 by George, Albert and Frederick Franklin.

They were renowned for their home-brewed Ginger Beer, the recipe for which was a closely guarded secret. Their bottles were produced in returnable glass, stoneware and soda siphons, some of which are still in existence today.

After the founding brothers moved out of the business, Frederick II kept the family business alive and renamed the business as Franklin & Sons.

Their horses were not only used to sell drinks but helped to assist the local fire brigade, many members of the family were also firemen.

Taking inspiration from Americans travelling to London, Franklin & Sons introduced innovative flavours to the UK from sources all around the world.

After a very successful brand and wholesale business, sadly the mill was bought by a bigger company and ceased to exist.

130 years after its humble beginnings, Franklin & Sons was relaunched in the UK & Internationally. Its heritage is celebrated in today’s range of crafted soft drinks and tonics & mixers, which combines unique ingredients to deliver the naturally refreshing taste of Franklins.
