Thought to have been invented by Don Javier Delgado Corona, owner of La Capilla Bar in Tequila, Mexico sometime in the 1960’s, this simple, classic tequila cocktail has enjoyed a cult following for several years, seeing even more of a recent resurgence with agave’s global rise. Bold and botanical, with bright citrus notes, this thirst-quenching cocktail has a strong backbone, with this version pushing the botanical nature even further with our Franklin & Sons 1886 Cola.
We recommend using your favourite high-quality tequila in this serve, as well as fresh lime juice and lots of ice to create a zesty, peppery character that balances against the rich, caramelised spices of the Cola. Simple but vibrant, this is a timeless cocktail that is perfect for casual gatherings and a sure stay of your next taco night.
TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Almost opaque rich brown cola with vibrant rising bubbles.
Aroma: Kola nut, caramel, toffee and vanilla with hints of roasted coffee.
Taste: Immediate chocolate cake, with coffee and vanilla. Hints of baking spice undercut with slight citrus. Light and fine fizz helps soften the mouthfeel, and roasted coffee lingers as the cake and spice fades.
Overall: Franklin & Sons 1886 Original Cola is a robust and traditional tasting cola that has bags of flavour. This soft drink is reminiscent of indulgent chocolate and coffee cakes and morning espresso.
