Sustainability
At Franklin and sons, we pride ourselves on the quality of our products, only using the best ingredients to make our great tasting drinks. Despite making remarkable drinks, we do not have a “win at all costs” attitude, we believe in looking after our consumers, our suppliers and our planet. Following a carbon footprint appraisal on our top selling products last year, we have just completed a full operational carbon footprint analysis and will have targets set to reduce emissions.
Natural Ingredients
The world’s incredible diversity inspires our products. They feature natural flavour extracts and juices, free from preservatives, artificial additives, and sweeteners. Our sugar is sourced locally from UK farms, Red Tractor accredited. We’ve also reduced sugar content in many items to less than 5g/100ml. We aim to ensure our products are vegan-friendly and gluten-free whenever possible.
Water Supply
In our sustainability efforts, we’ve improved our supply chains. Our water now comes from Haweswater Reservoir in Cumbria, guaranteeing taste and strict regulation. This change has eliminated over 120 tanker journeys annually and reduced emissions from material transportation by 63%. When using lengthy supply chains, ethical sourcing is crucial, and we’re committed to a strong stance against modern slavery and trafficking.
Packaging
Our packaging is predominantly aluminium, glass, and cardboard, with minimal plastic usage. We’re dedicated to ongoing improvement in all aspects of our business to be a trailblazer among independent drinks companies. Our paper labels are 100% recyclable, and our glass, aluminium, and cardboard packaging is fully curb-side recyclable. Additionally, our shrink wrap is made with 30% recycled material and is 100% recyclable.
Social Pledge
Franklin & Sons was among the first to join forces with So Let’s Talk, an organisation dedicated to enhancing mental, physical, and financial well-being in the industry. We’re helping fund their mission to transform the industry’s approach to work and prioritise employee health. Recent research by the Royal Society for Public Health revealed that 1 in 5 hospitality workers suffer from severe work-related mental health issues, with 84% experiencing increased stress. We’ve provided training for our teams and supported customer training with So Let’s Talk to increase access and knowledge on these crucial subjects.
